"How do plants function on a molecular level and how do they manage to adapt so successfully to all environmental conditions?"
Professor Dr. Ekkehard Neuhaus is holding the Chair on Plant Physiology. The primary focus of his research endeavours pertains to the domain of energy and sugar transportation within the context of plant cells. In this contect he is in particual interested in analyzing corresponding regulatory processes. Additionally, he undertakes research into the processes by which plants adapt to changing stress conditions, to make crop species more resistant.
When Farming Meets Climate Change
Heat, drought, and even unexpected frosts during an unusually warm spring – the effects of climate change are increasingly taking a toll on agriculture. Researchers and plant breeders around the world are analyzing ways to counter these challenges. One approach: genetically modifying crops so that they can withstand drought, high temperatures, and other changing environmental conditions.
